Timelapse - Porto In Motion

a documentary in no language

PT:

About 6 months ago, I produced the timelapse "O'Porto" available in https://vimeo.com/106545628. Immediately after its publication I got the feeling that more was needed. I must go to places where people usually do not go there. It was necessary shoot their highest points, achieving with this a different perspective. Despite some setbacks, I managed to finish this job. To achieve this video, it was necessary register about 10,420 photos, walk along some streets of the city subway by subway, climb the high buildings either by lift or stairs, carry a lot of equipment (including photographic machines and several lenses), the Stage One e Stage R. It was necessary to live some hilarious moments, others not so funny at all... I had the opportunity to talk to people that even though in these spaces, never had "looked" to the city from these places... but even after all this the most important is the final result. And this result is available here for those who like to watch the time and moments from a different perspective. As someone that I value said a few days ago, "Here is" my time "dedicated to Oporto."

If you want to achieve your goals, don't focus on them: Reggie Rivers at TEDxCrestmoorParkED

a talk in English

Former Denver Broncos running back Reggie Rivers discusses how focusing on your goals is the one sure way NOT to achieve them. With humor and insight he goes on to explain how focusing on your behaviors is how you achieve goals.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Changeover is the story of Bill Frankhouser, a life-long projectionist, who owns a drive-in theater with his wife Barb in rural Pennsylvania. Bill and Barb are caught in the middle of a transition in their trade. In 2014 it will be nearly impossible to get a first run feature film on 35mm print. The film industry’s switch to digital projection means that thousands of independent theaters will have to replace their film projectors with new, expensive digital ones. Before shutting the machines down forever, Bill gathers his friends to watch one last night of film presentation. He muses about what the change will mean to him, his business, and his community, and he bids an emotional farewell to the machines that have been with him for his entire career.

How computers translate human language - Ioannis Papachimonas

a lecture in English

View full lesson: http://ed.ted.com/lessons/how-computers-translate-human-language-ioannis-papachimonas

Is a universal translator possible in real life? We already have many programs that claim to be able to take a word, sentence, or entire book in one language and translate it into almost any other. The reality, however, is a bit more complicated. Ioannis Papachimonas shows how these machine translators work, and explains why they often get a bit mixed up.
