7 Tage... unter Tätowierern | 7 Tage | NDR

Fifty People, One Question: New York

a documentary in English

We asked the same question and it took us somewhere new. Gone were the lazy days of summer. A cool breeze swept the streets with leaves under foot and the familiar hustle of the city. Welcome to autumn in New York.

It’s a simple question and the answers can lead us anywhere. So go ahead, ask yourself…

Visit http://fiftypeopleonequestion.com and post your response.

We also asked this question in New Orleans, LA. Check it out: http://vimeo.com/1737450

a documentary in English

Meet Jonny Corndawg, the underground country-music legend. A born-and-bred Virginian, Jonny has played on five continents in as many years, and every state in the lower 48. Now Jonny has given himself over, heart and heel, to the world of Running.

Like most country musicians, Jonny spends more time on the road than on terra firma, more on stage than off, but with all that, Jonny is gaining a name for waking up daily, before and after every show, and burning ten miles while bandmates sleep off their evenings. Imagine Hank Williams Jr. from the belt up, Steve Prefontaine from the waistband down, throw in a gallon of water and a knack for showmanship, and what do you get? One of the great American vitalists, Jonny Corndawg.

Jonny let us follow him on a tour down the California coast as he braved injury and isolation on his quest to complete the Surf City USA Marathon in Huntington Beach, CA.

I hope you enjoy it.

The Grape Wall of China

a documentary in English

The Grape Wall of China is a documentary about the Chinese wine industry. I filmed, directed and edited the film in the summer of 2010 for CCTV News, China's foremost English language television channel. It is an introduction to the Chinese wine industry presented by Canadian, Kimberly Buchanan. For more information about wine in China then I can recommend a great blog from which I shamelessly stole the name for this film. It is called grapewallofchina.com so check it out

Mexico's Third Gender

a report in English

Every November a celebration known as the Vigil of the Authentic Intrepid Searchers of Danger takes place in the city of Juchitán, Oaxaca, in Mexico. In this community of Zapotec indigenous people, it's generally understood that there are men, there are women, and there are muxes (pronounced "mooshez"). Muxes are born men, raised as women, and live as women all their lives. The Vigil—or Vela—is the most important event of the year for the muxes of Juchitán, as one of them is crowned queen during the festival. In this documentary we travel to Juchitán to meet members of the "third gender" of Zapotec culture, and to hang out at the Vigil, which was honestly one of the best parties we've ever been to.

a documentary in English

"If you take “The Fighter” and strip off its melodramatic arc and the stars’ and the industry’s self-regard, then compress what’s left into 12 poetically concise minutes, you get something almost as good, almost as grown-up, as “I Beat Mike Tyson." - Boston Globe

In 2005, an unknown Irish boxer beat Mike Tyson in front of hundreds
of thousands of people. Then he disappeared.

Filmmaker Joshua Z Weinstein rediscovers boxer Kevin McBride,
raising his children in a gritty Boston suburb. Kevinʼs body is
deteriorating, yet he compulsively continues to fight.

This lyrical film finds a boxer at the end of his career – engaging in
the Sisyphean task that is his life.

Director/Cinematographer - Joshua Z Weinstein
Co-Producer - Nate Conway
Addn't Camera/Still Photography - Yoni Brook
Composer - John Ferrara
Colorist - Seth Ricart
Mixer - Jon Bosch
