Vengeance Short Film

a narrative film in English

Vengeance- A captured marine struggles to save his family from a vicious alien race.

This short film is a very small piece amongst a bigger picture. My goal is to start a kickstarter project this year to have this made into a feature film. Keep an eye out for it! Don't forget to leave a comment about what you thought of the short film.

Interesting facts about the short film:
1. All of the VFX was made and rendered on one computer: an I7 3930k, nvidia 780 ti, and 32 gb ram.
2. It was shot in Indio outside of Palm Springs and the shoot lasted two days.
3. My entire family was cast in the film.
4.The mocap was created at The Dave School in Orlando, Florida
5. This film was worked on in our extra time before and after work.
6. The King Alien took anywhere from 2 minutes- 25 minutes a frame to render.
7. The first TV shot was 970 frames, rendered entirely with Vray 3.0 GPU Rendering., and took a minute and a half per frame.
8. The entire film was shot with a Canon Mark III with various lenses.
9. Maya/Vray was used for rendering anything that was CG, Nuke was used for compositing and Adobe premiere was used for editing.
10. There are over 100 cg shots in this short.
11.Andrew Shcherbak composed the score and created the sound design for the entire short.

I hope everyone enjoyed the short film. If you would like to know more about this short film feel free to contact me at fitzpatrick.julian@gmail.com .

TURBO

a narrative film in English

TURBO is a high adrenaline short film in the tradition of The Karate Kid and Tron. It tells the story of Hugo Park (Justin Chon, 21 & Over, Twilight) a troubled youth whose only outlet for angst is a 4D fighting videogame called “Super Turbo Arena”. When Pharaoh King (Jocko Sims, Crash the Series), the Michael Jordan of cyber-sports, announces a tournament to determine who will join his pro-team, Hugo sets his eyes on the prize. But, Hugo isn't the only gamer who wants fame and glory. If Hugo wants to win he's going to have to beat Shamus (David Lehre, Epic Movie), the all time Turbo champ at the local Pandemonium arcade, and Ruse Kapri, a feisty prep girl that knows how to win. Realizing he can't win on his skill alone, Hugo turns to his brother Tobias a former kick-boxer whose last match left him wheel-chair ridden. Together the two will mend old wounds and see if a washed up street fighter can teach a troubled teen how to become a virtual gladiator!

The Periwig-Maker (Part 2)

a narrative film in English

The Periwig-Maker tells the story of a man who seals himself off in Medieval plague-infested London to escape the danger of infection.

"Besides its story about the plague and how every epidemic changes people's behavior, The Periwig-Maker asks some philosophical questions. It deals with the problem of responsibility for other people and for yourself: can you do wrong, when you do nothing... a very German question indeed. It also represents two different ways of living by the little girl and the wig maker: you can risk your life and live before you die, or you can prevent yourself from risking anything and live the life of a dead person. Keeping that in mind, the film has a positive twist at the end." -- Steffen Schäeffler

Year of Release: 1999
Production: Ideal Standard Film
Script, Design and Animation: Steffen Schäeffler
Producer: Annette Schäeffler
Other Contributors: Kenneth Branagh (narrator), Chris Heyne (composer), Philip Dale (animator), Stefan Busch (sound designer), Carlos Gangrel (character designer) and Mackinnon & Saunders Limited (puppets).
