Why is Modern Art so Bad?

a lecture in English

For two millennia, great artists set the standard for beauty. Now those standards are gone. Modern art is a competition between the ugly and the twisted; the most shocking wins. What happened? How did the beautiful come to be reviled and bad taste come to be celebrated? Renowned artist Robert Florczak explains the history and the mystery behind this change and how it can be stopped and even reversed.

Casper - So Perfekt

a music video in German

XOXO bekommst du online bei http://bit.ly/itunes_XOXO, http://amzn.to/XOXO_CD, http://amzn.to/XOXO_MP3, http://amzn.to/XOXO_LP, http://bit.ly/Musicload_XOXO, http://bit.ly/MZEE_CD, http://bit.ly/MZEE_LP.

"Du lachst, du weinst, du strahlst, du scheinst.

Where did English come from? - Claire Bowern

a lecture in English

View full lesson: http://ed.ted.com/lessons/where-did-english-come-from-claire-bowern

When we talk about ‘English’, we often think of it as a single language. But what do the dialects spoken in dozens of countries around the world have in common with each other, or with the writings of Chaucer? Claire Bowern traces the language from the present day back to its ancient roots, showing how English has evolved through generations of speakers.

Lesson by Claire Bowern, animation by Patrick Smith.
